8 Count Bodybuilders – A Low Impact Moderate Intensity Bodyweight Exercise to Build Lean Muscle and Burn Fat

I saw this exercise first while watching the Navy SEALS BUDs documentary.

I also saw it demonstrated by Stew Smith, another Navy SEAL fitness guru, in one of his books.

It looked kind of silly.  But I figured… if it’s good enough for the SEALS then I’d better give it some credit.

So I started to practice the bodybuilder exercise.

Turns out the 8-count bodybuilder is an EXTREMELY effective body weight callisthenic: low to moderate impact and incorporates several major muscle groups in your upper and lower body.

It’s been about eight years since I discovered the bodybuilder and it’s still one of the core exercises deployed at Detroit’s Slaughter Boot Camp.
